Elizabeth Carroll
As a kid, I always loved stories - hearing them and making them up. I was as likely to be daydreaming as playing Barbie with my sister. My friends were both real and imaginary, and while it is sad but true that some of my real friends have faded from my life, my imaginary ones have stayed with me, oftentimes competing rather viciously for my attention. To that end, I have tried to please. My first novel, The Secret Keeper, was self-published in 2009 by Wheatmark - one month, in fact, after the birth of my beautiful son, Wesley. The Secret Keeper is the first in a series; the second book, The Convergence, was just released in January of this year. While I have no desire to label myself as one type of writer or another, this series is young adult fantasy fiction. Currently, I have several other projects in the works, including a children's novel, a love story, and a period piece. I have always enjoyed reading and am currently delighting in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins and The Husband by Dean Koontz. I have been mentored by some of the best writers of our day, including Philip Gerard and Clyde Edgerton, and I currently belong to WIP, a small and cozy and very talented circle of writers.
When I'm not perfecting my craft, I teach middle school Language Arts. I do the mom thing and the wife thing, run errands, pay bills, and plan birthday parties (my son will be three in just three weeks!). I like puzzles (crossword and jigsaw), painting, scrapbooking (on the to-do list), shopping, candles, cats, and trucks of every size (my son, after all, is all boy). I enjoy biking and swimming, but I'm not much of a runner (I'd be the first one eaten by the Boogie Man). Leftover spaghetti rocks, as do desserts of any kind. I'm still waiting for my husband to take me to Bora-Bora, but I'll settle for Myrtle Beach this summer.
And to anyone who enjoys a good book, as always, I wish you "Happy Reading"!
