Cat Woods
While I've published in the adult arena (short stories, poetry, articles and columns--under a different byline), I have since focused on writing for kids. The journey is very different, yet has challenged me in ways that adult lit never did. I present at area schools and have participated as a speaker for Young Writer's Conferences.
Literacy is very important to me and is the focus of several upcoming projects I'm working on, including a middle grade novel.
When I'm not writing, I captain my crew of seven -- a wonderfully supportive husband, four beautiful children and two labs (neither wonderful nor beautiful) -- advocate for children in the court system and volunteer for various community organizations.
Where you can find me:
- Words from the Woods: my personal blog
- From the Write Angle: a collaborative writing blog
- AgentQuery Connect: I'm a site moderator
- Partners in Print: I'm a quiet co-founder of this book drive project
- Twitter: I'm known as Cate Woods there
- The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators discussion boards: must be a member to access
- Verla Kay Blue Boards: must be a member to access
I'm excited in taking this next step to expand my social networking community, as I live in region where writers are fewer than June bugs in January.
