Stavros Halvatzis
Stavros Halvatzis was born in Alexandria, Egypt, but grew up in Greece and in South Africa, before moving to Australia to continue a career in teaching creative writing, animation, and digital media at the tertiary level. He has headed Creative Industries departments at the Open Window School of Visual Communication in Gauteng Province, South Africa, as well as at the JMC Academy campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Prior to that, Stavros, who trained as a film-maker and writer in London, worked, for a period of five years, as the resident screenwriter for Elmo De Witt Films, one of the "big five" film companies in South Africa. Stavros holds a BA(Hons.) in English Language and Literature, a post graduate diploma from the London International Film School, and a pending PhD on New Narrative Structures from the University of Southern Queensland.
