Hi, I’m Kate Walker, a writer, artist and photographer but otherwise generally boring human being. While I’m not barely functioning socially paying close attention to my daily life, I write novels. Sort of. My first novel happened accidentally in 2007, after an Original Writing coursework went wildly awry, and it was (for reasons that escape me now) named Tallow and Kittle. T&K was a vampire novel that is now in a locked box under my bed and won’t be reappearing for love nor money. Well… maybe money. My second full-length escapade was conceived violently during the month of panic that was NaNoWriMo 2010, and became Intervita, which is presently in the editing and rewrite stage as we speak. I'm working on my third, fourth and fifth simultaneously (I am nothing if not a masochist and poor planner.) You never know, it might end well! In a classic case of name dropping, I will mention that I am mentored by Michael Bhim, who is an award winning playwright and has written for the Royal Court Theatre amongst others. You may know him as master of all things animate and otherwise, as he likes to be called.

I guess my claims to writing fame, if we're calling them that, are actually as a poet and playwright- I've had several pieces of poetry published and an excerpt from my first play, 'Playing Host'  was one of five winners of a county-wide competition (I was the youngest finalist) and has been performed by professional actors at the Hall for Cornwall theatreIronically, I kind of despise poetry and haven't written a play since, but I love to write and have made it my mission to do so for the rest of my life. My favourite genres to write are adventure, horror, sci fi and fantasy, and I love a heavy sprinkling of romance (who doesn't?)

My social life exists more on the internet than it actually does socially, so you can find me haunting Facebook or Twitter (or any number of other social networking sites) pretty much all day, every day. Yes, I know I'm lame! My life revolves mainly around writing, being a nerd, my computer and my cocker spaniel puppy Mac. I'm currently working on three projects: The Gatekeeper's Theatre, a novel inspired by mythology and Dante's Inferno; a sixteen page portfolio for my university application; and a thus unnamed angel project with a fellow writer.
