Warning: New Kid Walking (Here and At 7/6-9/11ThrillerFest) by Ron Barak
Hi All,
New kid on the block here. New to everything writing, that is. Not so new to…everything else.
Always been an avid reader. Wrote my recent debut novel, a season for redemption (yes, it really is all lower case, to allow for parenthetical distractions like this one), on a dare. Honestly. No doubt, I had a bit of an itch lying dormant. Guess I was kind of ready when that gauntlet was thrown down.
Writing's my new passion. Golf's my old passion (and it’s not exactly giving any quarter). The wife's my real passion. Problem is she knows it. Law is what I do in between all of my passions---to pay for all my passions.
But enough about me. (If you want more, there's always http://ronaldsbarak.com.) Why am I posting this little dispatch? Because two examples of everything writing new to me are #amwriting and ThrillerFest, sponsored each year by International Thriller Writers.
I'm new (there's that word again) to #amwriting. Speaking of “am,” I am very enthused by what I see here at #amwriting. I want to play. To become involved, at the "water cooler."
As for ThrillerFest, the wife and I will be attending our first, in New York this week on July 6-9. (You're lucky. This post might have been longer if we didn't have to pack and get to the airport.) And Johanna has been kind enough to allow me to share my ThrillerFest experiences with all of you on my return home. On July 12. Very exciting (at least for me).
So, thought I'd Introduce myself now and solicit any suggestions or requests for items any of you might like me to cover in my July 12 post—and any bits of wisdom or coaching any of you might offer me on the eve of my first ThrillerFest. Please let me know by email at rbarak@rsb-law.com if you have any thoughts—about ThrillerFest or my pending post, that is. :-)
If not, no worries. I'm sure I'll find something to say. I always do. :-) Ron
