Lisa Ellwood is a Nanticoke/Lenni-Lenape Native American resident in South Wales. She is a highly skilled Marketing Communications professional with an extensive background spanning several creative and marketing disciplines. She has 23 years of experience primarily in London, New York City and Philadelphia. In 2009 Lisa established Iconic Imagery Creative where she is self-employed as a Senior Marketing Communications Specialist.


Ms. Ellwood began her career as a Graphic Designer/Marketing Specialist as a Freelancer for a number of Blue Chip & Communications Companies in Philadelphia and New York City while still at university. She graduated with a B.A. Degree from Temple University having majored in Communications. Her concentration was Advertising with minors in Marketing and French. Lisa also spent time at The School of Visual Arts studying Communications Media Art. She pursued post-graduate studies at The University of Pennsylvania concentrating on Communications and International Marketing. Having studied six languages she is currently the most proficient in French and anticipates becoming competent in Welsh.


Lisa is a former member of the Executive Committee of the National Board of Directors of the Graphic Artist's Guild. During her time with The Guild she also headed the Graphic Design Certification Committee where she researched and presented a proposal for the certification of Graphic Designers, the first initiative of its kind in the US. Her proposal was approved by The Guild in May 1998.


Ms. Ellwood is a published writer. Design-related articles cover graphic design certification, plagiarism on the web and Creative Commons Licensing.  She was also a Consulting Editor and Features Writer for The Promota Magazine with an focus on politics, world affairs and culture.  Ms. Ellwood has recently featured in The Guardian Society Daily for her work on behalf of The Broken of Britain,  a voluntary non-partisan Disability campaign providing advocacy for people with invisible illness and/or physical & mental health conditions & Carers.


Lisa's latest project is The Creative Crip. In addition to showcasing select literary and visual arts-related projects, the site will be a no-holds-barred chronicle of her experiences with self-employment & growing a business that is profitable & sustainable. Central the endeavour is her assertion that disabled *scroungers* DO want gainful employment - but the problem lies with the lack of genuine support and resources from government programmes. She also confesses to being a long-time writer of Harry Potter Fan Fiction.
