Short Story Writers Wanted by Reynard City

Reynard City is a project that is very important to me. It is something I have been working on for a number of years. I have been very lucky that a number of people have worked with me on this.

As well as writers and artists we have also had voice actors (for the cartoon pilot), musicians, cosplayers and others all contributing. There is also of course the excellent Tim Lince who has set up our new www.reynardcity.com site.

While I love producing the comic and the cartoon, writing is and always has been my passion. There is something pleasing about seeing your work adapted by an artist or featured on a website or in a magazine.

In simple terms Reynard City is a surreal version of the cartoons I used to love when I was younger, such as Ninja Turtles, Thundercats and so forth. It concerns three superhero foxes who come to earth to stop an evil robot and his army.

As well as the villains the characters have other problems. The main character AK Girl is a psychic who inflates on contact with caramel. Her best friend Wondervixen is a former beauty pageant runner up who suffers from being a workaholic and body dysmorphia, while Wondervixen’s boyfriend Hyper Rob is a the son of a gangster determined to bring about justice. However this is hard when you get trapped in pies or turned into jelly.

What we would like to see is other writers joining our project. While comics are a visual artform I do feel stories are important. We would like people to write new stories for us.

If you have read the stories online and seen the character profiles you may have some ideas of your own. However I have also come up with some storylines you may want to try for yourself-

Surprise Package- AK Girl is being cocky as usual. However she is surprised when a special box turns normal robots into giant monster robots, giving her a shock and forcing her to learn that sometimes a little humility is no bad thing.

The Realm Of Nightmares- A charming guru called Mesmer kidnaps people who have trouble sleeping. The heroes respond to this by putting Vibes forward, claiming her sleeping problems are affecting her mental state. Unfortunately she soon realises that Mesmer is gaining power from people’s nightmares…

The Ultimate Humiliation (Reference Issue 12: Deal)- Mega Fox rebuilds Humiliator, a villain who uses warp energy to make the heroes look stupid. This time around he has taken over a TV studio to make the heroes’ humiliation a live event!

Princess Vaingloria- A crooked so-called psychic vows revenge when a corrupt policeman ruins her business. This results in a psychic duel between her and AK Girl.

Influenza- AK Girl and Hyper Rob are overjoyed when a familiar face emerges from the warp. This is Chloe, a wolf with a laser arm cannon. She seems friendly, so much so that Wondervixen becomes jealous. Then strange things start to happen, such as AK Girl merging with her sofa…

All The Fun Of The Fair- A fun fair mysteriously emerges in Reynard City. The people who go there start to go missing. The heroes go there to take on the mysterious Operator and find themselves losing their powers and finding out this particular fair is not that much fun…
