Enamored with aviation from his first memories, Nathan "Nate" Carriker was taught to fly by his father, a professional educator and private pilot, from age 8. He became a licensed pilot in high school, a flight instructor at age 18, and an airline pilot at 20.
An avid pilot even in his free time, Nate was nearly killed in a light airplane accident in 1994, sustaining a vertebral fracture that he was told would paralyze him for life. He returned to work, without accommodation, a year to the day later.
Nate's been flying for a major airline since 1998 and began his writing career in 2002. Nate's writing has appeared in aviation trade magazines, and he's preparing to query his first novel, an aviation-themed family saga, A Silver Ring. He's a married father and stepfather to three boys, two of whom are U.S. soldiers. When not flying or writing, Nate enjoys boating with his family and eclectic collections of music, cigars, and spirits.
