My name is Karen L. Simpson and I am a writer of speculative fiction most of the time.  I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan and hold a Master's in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. Writing, fabric art, and history are my passions.  When I'm not writing I'm creating quilts and have taught African American quilting for over twenty years. As a historian, I  design exhibits for museums and other historical institutions that deal with issues of cultural diversity and racial reconciliation. The subjects and themes for my fiction are taken from the stories I discover while doing research.

My first novel Act of Grace, will be published by Plenary Publishing, February 2011.
